Bart Schrijver directs movies which show how nature can test our limits and salve our troubled hearts. In The North, he follows estranged friends Chris and Lluis on a trek through the raw splendour of the Scottish Highlands. Walking the West Highland Way and the Cape Wrath Trail tests their trust, endurance, and capacity for reconnection. Shot entirely on location, the film captures the contrast between these two vulnerable men and the tremendous force of nature—mist, rain and silence; ridges, vales and lochs.
