Tuner introduces us to Niki (Leo Woodall), music prodigy and gifted piano tuner turned safecracker. Niki has hyperacusis, a painful auditory sensitivity that reduces tolerance to sounds and derails his musical career.  Niki discovers that his perfect pitch and unique hyperhearing skills enable him open safes, so he becomes a reluctant thief. When his mentor Harry (the incomparable Dustin Hoffman) becomes overwhelmed with medical bills, Niki is pulled further into a dangerous criminal underworld. An unexpected romance with a budding composer Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu) complicates Niki’s life, and his new illegal career threatens both relationships. This crime thriller is directed by Daniel Rohoe (winner 2022 Academy Award best documentary for Navalny) in his first narrative feature film. Who knew being allergic to sound could change your life!
